Latvia lacks productivity

Interview with Christian Ketels of Harvard Business School. He says that investment project worth billions is a very good thing, but only the increase of productivity of each company is bound to boost the welfare of the state. He is heading a comprehensive evaluation of Latvia‚Äôs competitiveness, commissioned by the State Chancellery of Latvia and carried out by the SSE Riga, BICEPS and Ernst & Young. Mr Ketels and his team are concerned about the high level of inequality of residents and the massive proportion of shadow economy. He speaks about the corruption in the eyes of potential investor and the differences between the three Baltic countries.
