Unprecedented Latvia˙s evaluation to be made

September 9, 2011

Christian Ketels, in charge of the research evaluating Latvia’s competitiveness, carried out by the SSE Riga, BICEPS and Ernst & Young, believes that it is too early to say Latvia no has any problems. The researchers will focus on factors stimulating gray economy and possible solutions. According to Ketels, the institutional obstacles are those which are hampering the economic growth. BICEPS director Alfs Vanags says that “we are talking about very radical, real changes”, and the priority should be given to changes in the environment - tax system and tax administration efficiency.
