Welcome to our new website! SSE Riga has a new visual identity, which includes a new logo and an enhanced corporate style. This website is both a 'pioneer project' and a core component of our new image.

Open Lecture: Business Opportunities in the Art World


On September 8, 2011 Corinne Estrada, CEO of Agenda, a PR & Marketing agency in Paris specializing in communications for international cultural organizations will give a presentation on Business Opportunities in the Art World. The talk will start at 4 PM in Soros Auditorium, SSE Riga. The talk will be 30 minutes long, followed by a Q & A session.

Evaluation of Latvian competitiveness, and development of a sustainable competitiveness monitoring system: Awareness Raising Seminar

The seminar is organized in the context of the project “Evaluation of state competitiveness and development of a sustainable competitiveness monitoring system” for which the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga has been commissioned by the State Chancellery of the Republic of Latvia. The aim of the seminar is to inform stakeholders and a wider audience about the Latvian Competitiveness report project.

SSE Riga Alumni Meeting in London

On September 15th, SSE Riga Alumni based in the UK are organizing their next networking event in London. The Rector, Anders Paalzow, Alumni Relations Manager, Gita Grinberga and the Head of the Economics Department, Morten Hansen will also attend the event. During the event, alumni will be informed about the new student body, current activities, future plans, and alumni involvement in keeping SSE Riga's standards high. Morten Hansen will give a presentation with an update on the economic situation in the Baltic States.

1/2 Million Euro Agreement to be Signed on Tuesday

At 10:00 on Tuesday, August 30,  SSE Riga Rector Anders Paalzow will sign a 415,219 EUR agreement with the Latvian Chamber of Trade and Commerce (LTRK) to ensure the provision of high-quality executive education to Latvian businesses and their employees. The project is organised as part of the LTRK training programme „” and is co-financed by the European Social Fund. The aim of the project is to increase the productivity and competitiveness of Latvian enterprises in international markets.

Companies wishing to join the project receive a refund for resources invested in employee training and education according to the following scale:   

Small enterprises– 72.5%, up to 50 employees;

Medium-size enterprises – 62.5%, from 50 to 250 employees;

Large enterprises– 52.5%, above 250 employees.

Roger Henning (1947-2011)

rogerhenningIt was with deep sadness that I received the news of the sudden death of SSE Riga faculty member Roger Henning. With Roger's passing the SSE Riga community has not only lost a dedicated faculty member, but also a long term friend and supporter.

Exhange Students Break the Ice in Jurmala



The first ice-breaking event for the Exchange Student Group for Fall 2011 took place in Jurmala on August 24th, and semester of intensive studies and active student life began. Read more about the Exchange Programme here.

The Exchange Programme adds to the multicultural experience at SSE Riga by welcoming 35 students from 11 different countries. We have exchange students from Austria, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and Turkey, in addition to our student body from seven countries. Working in a multicultural environment has proven value for developing skills necessary for global management positions, and all SSE Riga students benefit from this cross-cultural exchange.


Studies at SSE Riga have started

The study year at SSE Riga began on August 22. We all are happy to see the excited faces of the new Y1 students. The student body is extremely diverse: Latvia – 62; Lithuania – 34; Estonia – 7; Moldova -9; Ukraine – 2; Georgia – 1; Belarus – 8. In addition, 38 exchange students have arrived to experience one semester at SSE Riga.
