Maija KaleMaija Kale, MA (2007, Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg, Germany, KwaZulu-Natal University in Durban, South Africa and Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, India) completed her Master degree in Global Studies Programme with major in international relations, specializing in globalisation and development issues.

Maija is a Stockholm School of Economics in Riga graduate (2002), and has just returned from her Master studies, which over 2 years time took place in Germany, the Republic of South Africa and India, allowing students to get acquinted with globalisation and development issues not only from theoretical perspective but also by pursuing empirical research, and getting to know different cultures and life realities.

Amazed by her study experience Maija wants to transfer acquired knowledge to students in Baltic states, and offers an optional course in the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga. Since returning to Latvia, Maija, together with another Stocholm School of Economics in Riga graduate (2001) Elina Veide, has established a company specializing in development consulting, and received a grant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has given lectures on development issues in all regional Universities in Latvia (excluding Riga region). Maija has also published a separate issue of the Soros Foundation in Latvia in the Latvian leading daily newspaper Diena (15.12.2007) about development cooperation issues.
