DolanEdwin G. Dolan has lectured at SSE-Riga each year since 1999. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from Yale University and an M.A. from the Russian and East-European Institute of Indiana University. He has taught economics in the United States, at Dartmouth College, the University of Chicago and George Mason University, and in Europe, at the University of Economics in Prague, Central European University in Budapest, Tallinn University of Technology, and the American University in Bulgaria. From 1990 to 2001, he worked in Moscow, where he founded and served as president of the American Institute of Business and Economics. Prof. Dolan is the author of several textbooks on macroeconomics, microeconomics and banking that have been used around the world, both in their original US editions and in Russian, Spanish, Japanese, French, Thai and other translations. In 1996, Prof. Dolan served as a senior economic adviser to the National Bank of Kazakhstan. Other government work has included spells as an antitrust economist with the U.S. Department of Justice and a deregulation specialist with the Interstate Commerce Commission. He is especially interested in the study of macroeconomic crises and stabilization policy in transition economies and emerging markets.
